Berabera financing terms

In plain terms — what you're agreeing to when you take a phone on the Berabera scheme.

1. Who this agreement is between
Your plan is between you (the customer) and the distributor who supplies the phone, with MovaPay providing the financing and device-management technology. When you accept these terms you are entering a credit agreement to buy a phone over time.
2. Eligibility and the details you give
You must be the rightful user of the phone number you register and able to enter a credit agreement. The name, phone number and any identification you provide must be accurate; we may verify them. Giving false details can void your plan.
3. Deposit, instalments and what you'll pay
You pay a deposit today and repay the balance in instalments at the frequency (daily, weekly or monthly) and over the period you chose at checkout. The instalment amount, the number of payments and the total payable are shown to you before you confirm — that total is what you agree to pay.
4. One-time security fee
A single security fee is included in the amount you pay today. It covers securing and managing the device while it is being financed and is shown separately in your order summary. It is not a deposit toward the phone's price.
5. How you pay
Pay your deposit by card online or in cash at the distributor when you collect. Instalments are paid through the payment method offered in your market (for example mobile money or cash at the outlet). You are responsible for paying on or before each due date — keep your own record of payments and reference numbers.
6. The phone is secured until it's paid off
While any balance remains, the phone is registered to your plan and secured using device-management software. You may use the phone normally. If payments fall significantly behind, the phone may be temporarily locked until you bring the plan up to date. Removing, disabling or tampering with the security software, or reselling the phone before it is paid off, is a breach of this agreement.
7. Reminders, late and missed payments
We send reminders before payments are due. If a payment is missed, your plan falls into arrears and the phone may be locked after the grace period set for your market. Repeated or prolonged non-payment may lead to recovery of the phone and closure of the plan. Any payments you have already made are not refunded when a plan is closed for non-payment, except where the law requires otherwise.
8. Paying early and finishing your plan
You can pay extra or settle the full remaining balance at any time with no penalty. Once the balance reaches zero, the security is released, the phone is fully yours, and your plan is marked complete. Keep your completion confirmation.
9. Collection
Collect your phone from the distributor outlet shown on your confirmation. Bring a valid government ID and your collection code. The phone is handed over once your deposit is confirmed.
10. Warranty, loss and damage
The phone carries the manufacturer's warranty; warranty claims are handled through the distributor or manufacturer. Loss, theft or accidental damage does not pause or cancel your obligation to repay the balance — report a lost or stolen phone to the distributor immediately so the plan can be managed.
11. Your information and privacy
The details you provide are used to set up and run your plan, send your collection code, process payments, send reminders, and contact you about your plan. They are shared between the distributor and MovaPay for these purposes and handled in line with applicable data-protection law. They are not sold.
12. Changes, disputes and contact
These terms, prices and fees may be updated for new plans; the terms you accepted apply to your plan. If something looks wrong — a double charge, a wrongful lock, an incorrect balance — contact the distributor or MovaPay support and we will investigate. The full financing agreement, including the figures specific to your plan, is provided to you at collection.

Berabera is operated by MovaPay together with your local distributor. This page summarises the financing agreement in plain language; the full, market-specific agreement is provided to you at collection and prevails in case of any difference.
